– POTTSBURGH – Environment Protect Environment Pollution,Pollution Protection: Waters of the Commonwealth (Environment Protection Pollution) Act 2017
Updated September 07, 2018 06:57:18 RTE is pleased to announce that the Environment Protection Pollutions Act 2017 will now be in force from August 2019.
This legislation will apply to all waters and waters adjacent to Commonwealth waters in Western Australia, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia.
The legislation will have a range of benefits, including protecting the environment and public health.
The Act will provide certainty to businesses and businesses will be able to protect their assets in the event of a major environmental disaster.
It also creates an effective process for identifying potential pollution hotspots and establishing a process for protecting businesses from potential environmental damage.
The Bill will also:A new Environment Protection Act 2018 will be in place from August 2021.
This will allow for the establishment of the Commissioner of the Environment, the Commissioner is responsible for regulating the management of Commonwealth waters.
The Commissioner will also have the power to suspend or revoke the Commissioner’s registration.
This is a significant reform and will make it easier for businesses to protect the environment.
The bill also provides for the appointment of a Commissioner of Environmental Quality to administer the Act.
The Commission will be appointed by the Governor-General and the Chief Commissioner of Police, or their designees, will be selected by the Commissioner.
The Department of Environment, Water and Resources (DEPW) will provide the commissioner with the Commissioner General’s advice and support.
The Commissioner General is appointed by each State Government and the Commissioner will be responsible for ensuring the proper conduct of environmental matters.
The Minister responsible for the Environment is the Commissioner for Environment, Environment and Water.DEPW is the Department of the Premier of Western Australia.
